Saw this on fb. I know that some of my friends experience racism a lot and it breaks my heart. All the protests began while I was in rehab, so I wasn’t sure exactly what was happening. We learned of George Floyd and they had a moment of silence that I went to. They shouted him name over and over again. It was powerful. I know it’s controversial, but it really shouldn’t be, to say BLACK LIVES MATTER. Some of my family and friends struggle with the violence of certain protests and it’s all they see. But those certain protesters forget the power of peaceful protesting, and how it shows that they are better than the people who treat them so poorly. For anyone here struggling with that part of that, remember that most protesters ARE NOT LIKE THAT. This movement needed to happen on a larger scale. We live in a small city with no protests, but I’m hoping if we move and Corona dies down, that we could go to one and show our support. We can’t do much except speak out, and I know it’s not always our place. But we want to do our best to support our friends and everyone else out there suffering from racism. Silence is worse than saying something and overstepping, in my opinion. Anyways. The first pride was a riot was posted on one of the doors of the rehab, and that’s stuck with me. I want to make an image of that quote with BLM to post and make some of the people around me who struggle with the concept uncomfortable 😂 their discomfort is nothing compared to the suffering people have had to endure.
honestly i can’t express how much i love that you posted this, this is just so extremely important 😫🙏🏽💕
