i don’t think it matters if you’re “smart” or not — I think you should just follow whatever it is that you truly want to do — not what you feel like you hAve to do bc of your mom or feeling like you’re not “smart” enough
It doesn’t matter if you’re “smart” or not. If you truly want to do something, you’re going to work hard for it. It’s not going to be handed to you on a sliver platter and you know it. There are different fields of knowledge and maybe if you’re “smart” they’re going to come easier to you, but if you aren’t passionate about something, you’re not got going to ambitious enough and you’re not going to be inclined to work for that knowledge. So in the end, being “smart” or “gifted” may things come easier to you, but if you’re not motivated to achieve it, you’re not going to have the knowledge to do it. So if you want to get into psychology, history, and art, then do it. You have one life, and it’s yours. Not your mom’s not anyone else’s.
else’s.
tell them that it’s your life and you’re the one that’s going to be affected the most so you should have the majority of the choice. it doesnt matter if you’re smart or not because later in life, most people forget the stuff they learnt in school.
oh I can SO relate to you. i am also in the gifted and talented program and also in advanced math, and its kinda hard rn but anYway thats beside the point. you should tell your parents its YOUR life, you should be able to make your OWN decisons and they should stand behind you no matter what path you choose. :)
also, being gifted, i am also expected to get good grades, not from my parents, but from my peers. in my school, if you're in the GT program and you get bad grades, everyone will talk bad about you behind your back. i know that sounds mean, but thats the way it is around here :(
so i feel like i am always being pressured. hang in there! it'll get better before you know it 💗
ugh I know how you feel. my mom wants me to be a doctor.a few years ago I told her I wanted to be a photographer an she just laughed
I’m legit scared to tell her I wanna be a musician
BRUH I HAVE THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM MY MOM WANTS ME TO BE A RADIOLOGIST AND IVE BEEN BSING MY WAY THROUGH SCHOOL SINCE THE FOURTH GRADE IM NOT SMART ENOUGH FOR THIS-
i’m not even in the highest level math class ok like face it mOm your daughter is just straight up dumb and she doesn’t even wanna go into medicine 🤷‍♀️
Honestly being “gifted” just means you pick up things faster. I had that program in my school and it only lasts until sophomore year. After that everyone learns the same way. That program is bs and I don’t think it means anything. Do what you want to do. It’s YOUR future. Only you can decide.
Literally same and idk what to do abt it. My mom wants me to go into the medical field too but I want to be an astronomer bc that’s what I’m into but she always says I won’t succeed if I don’t but I’m just like isn’t staying alive success enough? ur lucky I haven’t yeeted myself off a bridge yet so u should be proud.
