The lyrics are from 88rising’s “Midsummer Madness”. Midsummer madness means a temporary lapse into foolishness, senseless behavior, folly, etc., especially during the summer. I was really looking forward to this summer and many of you too. I vacation with my family somewhere every year and have a family gathering/reunion on both my mom and dad’s sides of the family. It was going to be a time for fun. I especially take the full meaning of midsummer madness when I’m with my dad’s side just because more of my cousins are around my age. We laugh until we cry, have late night talks, can’t ever take a normal picture, roast each other, karaoke until we lose our voice, eat too much, act the craziest in public, disappoint our parents...oh the list goes on. I heart my dysfunctional fam. The collage is inspired by other surrealism in art. Everything is strange and uncanny. I thought that went hand in hand and perfectly portrays the summertime as unordinary and bizarre and it lead me to I create this striking vision. My “summer” has come to an end and it was very different and truly one for the books. One full of an assortment of thoughts and feelings. Acceptance. Disappointment. Shame. Fear. Relief. Frustration. Bliss. Comfort. Gratitude. As the summer wraps up, I hope you all have a great and safe school year! That’s all I have to say :)
