so, this just necessarily a theory, but it’s how I understood the song/ mv. at first, he’s talking about his dreams of becoming a rap star/ the top/ rockstar/ etc. and how he wants to be and have these things, not knowing the consequences or about the hidden “shadows”. later, once he finally reaches these dreams of his, he starts to realize that these positions he put himself in aren’t what he thought they were. my favorite part is here: “I’m afraid, flying high is terrifying/ no one told me how lonely it is up here” he’s also talking about trying to run away from the shadows and dangers of fame and sometimes it seems like running is his only option. in the chorus, he seems to be talking about how his shadow grows bigger the more “popular” (not the right word lol) he gets. he also talks about wanting to go back I think when he says “please don’t let me shine/ don’t let me down/ don’t let me fly” (I almost cried when he said “I’m scared/ I’m afraid”) he repeats his dreams and desires again before saying how he and his shadow are one, no matter what he does he can’t break away from it. well, that was my “theory” lol. this mv was honestly the biggest emotional rollercoaster ever 😂

I like the bit where he is watching himself on stage and I think that symbolises his shadow watching his ego and how everyone has their phones pointed at his ego and his shadow is ignored it’s like Suga is the only one who can see it. I did some googling and I found out that in Jung’s psychology books he describes a persons shadow as their feeling of self inferiority which I think is one of the reasons why he sings that he wants money/fame/status in the beginning. I also like the references to people following and watching their every move like with the people all looking through the hotel doors and everyone trying to grab him. I was also really confused about the red stuff on the walls at the beginning but I heard some people talking about how it might be a reference to an art piece where there is a block of wax and to get through a door it has to shed some of its wax therefore symbolising how they lose a piece of themselves with every success they achieve

I also believe that Yoongi is answering Joon’s question in persona “who the he*l am I” then Yoongi says “I am you you are me. Now do you know”

re: yeah, I was at Wembley and I did record some bits but made sure to watch with my eyes rather than through my phone if I had recorded it all and watched it through my phone it wouldn’t have been as good
